Thank you for doing this video although you seem to not be an open person about things like this. ❤ I totally and fully agree to what you say that not only is it a harsh term, but also is it pinned directly to the conceived baby, but that is not the reality as far as I heard from a ton of people... I also have three boys...😅 Originally we wanted two kids (maybe three), but I definitely wanted one of each and my husband was sooo EXCITED to be a girl dad. For my first I wanted to be surprised, but was hoping for a boy. With my second - at that moment I thought it's my last - I wanted to find out to be prepared and not potentially have a bonding problem finding out during the birth. I found out number 2 is a boy and had a quick smile and that was it. Later at some point we decided to give it one more try, we made a gender reveal video and I hysterically laughed as if it was a joke or somebody else's fate... My oldest was sad, my younger one was mad. 😂 And here we are TODAY being silly and giving it ONE LAST TRY... 😅 Please send us all the pink dust everyone. 🎀🎉🤣

The part of this video that reasonates with me both is other peoples comments! We have both boys& girls and both biological children & adopted children but have never had a newborn girl. Theres also a big gap between our adopted kids & bio kids. People were genuinely disappointed when we found our last pregnancy was with a baby boy and it really really hurt! It also put in my head that other people may not really consider our adopted children as our children which just added another element of hurt. Im very early pregnant again & just know itll be another boy which id be delighted with! Id have 3 boys close in age and could imagine them just being great friends as they grow up. Id be delighted too if it was a girl but im not looking forward to other peoples comments. I think we will find out & not tell anyone.

I also felt this way with my 3ed but it passed quickly we now have 10 boys 2 girls our girls are 10 years apart

I think boys are a lot easier to sway using the shettles method. With a girl, you really need to be regular to know if it is 4-5 days before your period. Your body doesn't always follow when you think your period will come.

I’m still having the emotional turmoil 4 years later. When does it go away. I’m in therapy already and no change.

Okay but I can’t keep coping with the nighttime wakings where my son needs me to hold him and then wakes up again when I try to lay him back down. I NEED to actually get some substantial sleep because I am going to lose it if I don’t. I KNOW that sleep training just extinguishes the cry response and doesn’t actually teach them to settle because they aren’t capable of self-soothing, but I don’t know what to do.

This is my first and it is a girl. When I found out, I cried hard. I never had a brother and in the culture I come from, boys are always prioritized. I really wished to give my parents a boy and not be labeled as a girl birth family Now I'm feeling better I hope my daughter turns out to be a kind and strong woman

This is exactly what i am struggling with right now. When my daughter just turned 1, she brought home a terrible stomach bug from daycare where we ended up having to take her to the ER. Afterward both my husband and i both ended up getting it. Ive had emetophobia all my life and i thought this event would help with some exposure therapy, but i think it was just so traumatic for me that it just ended up making my fear even worse. I am just about to start ERP therapy in a few days and i am nervous, but hopeful. I want to be better so i can be the best parent for my daughter.

Question: Everything I lookup says X(girl) sperm lasts longer then Y(boy) sperm. If this is the case, then sex, say 4 days before ovulation, as the theory says, would still increase your chances of having a girl due to less Y sperms?

Can't you just be grateful they were born HEALTHY? Having children is not like shopping for a specific colour or style of dress/furniture; it is a natural process, so it's completely irrational to expect a specific sex.

We tried the Shettles method to sway for a baby girl after having 2 boys. I conceived on month 1 but miscarried within a week, 2 more attempts and I was pregnant again which stuck. I’ve always had regular predictable cycles so I knew when I ovulated, it was made even easier using OPK’s and temperature tracking. We stuck to the method completely, until one random month my body decided to ovulate early which meant that we had sex right on the day of ovulation. Oops! If Shettles method was accurate then that oopsie would have meant i’d have a boy. 38 weeks and 1 day later and our sweet baby Girl was born 🙂

Afraid of NAUSEA, not vomiting? I wonder if anyone on here is like me. I find severe nausea to be one of the worst feelings you can experience- I’m not just talking about feeling a bit sick, I mean feeling so incredibly nauseous you feel like you’re going crazy, you start clawing at your body trying to ground yourself (it’s usually my thighs that get the brunt of it) and basically feel like you’d rather die than continue feeling so desperately uncomfortable. Most emetophobics are scared of vomiting. I’d RATHER vomit & feel better than cope with just a few minutes of debilitating nausea. People also say “it’s okay, you won’t die!” as if being dead is somehow worse than living with this level of suffering. I don’t feel that I am irrationally phobic: the nausea truly is horrendous to experience and can’t be “calmed away”. If someone put their hand through a grinder you’d rightly expect that to be a horrific thing to feel- well this level of nausea is akin to that extreme scenario. It’s a strong feeling of unease equivalent to the worst pain imaginable. I’ve taken different anti-emetics but they only help sometimes and not always to a great extent. Unfortunately it’s very easy to stop someone vomiting, but far less is known and researched about stopping nausea and its various causes within the body. I’ve of course tried the usual things: ginger, peppermint, sea bands, breathing techniques, meditation, distraction… it’s too extreme for any of that. I suppose I just wondered if anyone was like me- not your typical emetophobic!

Thank you, I needed this. Found out it's my third boy, then I had a lady saying you should bring your husband over to ask my husband how to make girls seeing they have two girls. People say such hurtful things.

Ive had emetophobia since I was 5. I was able to manage it pretty well from roughly age 13-25. 25 i caught the stomach flu for the first time as an adult and it all came back with a vengeance, and right before me and my husband were planning on having children. I know this video is old but it gives me hope. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤

Just found the video and it’s exactly what my sanity needed. My second baby is now 8 months old. Up until 4 months he was a brilliant sleeper but since the first regression he stirs a lot. We did gentle sleep training with our first who is 4 now and a brilliant sleeper. I have felt like I’m failing because the things we did first time haven’t worked this time. Knowing it’s ok to have a baby who wakes up is ok is what I needed to hear. I’m wasting so much energy trying to come up with plans that I’m missing out on this wonderful moment. Thank you x

Same here with two beautiful healthy girls and now pregnant don‘t know the gender yet but secretely my husband and me hope for a boy this time though it’s his second biological child I had my First daughter before we met but it’s like his own. My sister who only has one Child ( a Girl too) was the one saying when our second Girl came: „ oh aren‘t you dissapointed that it’s a girl again?“ that hit me somehow.. These expectations from other even people I don’t know personally. I always wanted a girl but honestly After two I just wish to experience having a son too. I think it’s human nature that we like to have both. And my husband would love to have a son one day too just as much as Most women want a girl we just Identify ourselves with our gender more and often share more interests.

This was so validating for me as we are doing most of these steps and taking it slow. My daughter is 16 months and the idea of getting her tired and going through the routine and having her watch something on her own before bed is such a good idea, because she hates when I leave the room, but doesn’t mind if she’s watching something so it might be worth a try. Omg, some of the comments here. So if Shettles worked for you that means that all the women or couples who didn't 'succeed' didn't do it correctly? Like wtf 🤦‍♀️😂 I strongly recommend this vid: ua-cam.com/video/Ok7S-cFmJas/v-deo.html The IUI part is quite convincing. If you know a lot of couples for whome the Shettles method worked- keep in mind that those who didn't get the sex they were trying for probably won't tell you ✌️

I used to be really really calm, but growing up, I started developing Emetophobia. To the point that throwing up is all I can think about and it TERRIFIES me! Not just throwing up, also getting sick. Since I started thinking about getting sick all the time, I started feeling extremely nauseous all the time. To the point that I sleep with a bucket by my bed. I am still like that. I know this video was posted LONG ago, but pleaseeeee, do you have advice? 😭

Whenever I'm older, I am going to try to limit myself and my partner to 3 kids. I'm wishing for two boys and a girl, like my older sister. It's ok if that never happens.

This fear has almost taken most of my life from me, from the age of as I can remember 3 to 25 when I started to recover. Exposure therapy is the only way I found to get my life back. The outcome for me was just horrific , embarrassment , shame, guilt, could not look after my children. I left my children with their father for fear of them growing up with the same odd behaviour as me and I would not have wished that on them

I've got 3 daughters and 3 sons. We usually have sex once or twice a month and always I track my ovulation. All of my 3 daughter should be boy and my oldest son should be a girl! So Shettles method is not for us.

I made it to the end. Im absolutely desperate right now and need help!! I still feel like time will tell all. I have no help at night. Its just me and my 20 month old is exclusively breast fed and bed shares...im at my wits end. I have no idea what or how to do it. Im exhausted

Thank you so much for this video. I wouldn't wish this feeling on my worst enemy. I am not afraid of myself being sick I'm afraid of other people throwing up. I was always afraid of having kids. I have a one and 6 year old and I obsess over it every night. I can't escape it because they are my kids. I'm a single mom. Thankfully when it happens my mom instincts take over and I handle it but I'm an absolute wreck inside. If it's anyone else I cover my ears, cry uncontrollably, Humm as loud as I can and run away. I have passed out in the past when I was trapped on a boat and couldn't get away from a friend getting sick

I know this video is 5 years old but Iv just come across it while searching for some reassurance. I can relate to everything you said in this video. I have Emetaphobia too and 2 children, one of whom is unwell at the moment and so I’m struggling right now but your video has really helped me so thank you! It can be very isolating as others don’t always understand the depth of the phobia, your video gives some reassurance and comfort to know I’m not alone in feeling like this.
